Realistic Fiction

speakMelinda Sordino, going into her 9th year at school gets raped over her 8th grade summer, by the “popular” boy of the school Andy Evans. She calls the cops but in all the chaos she walks home. She tells no one about what happened that night. Now none of her friends will talk to her. When none of them even know what really happened. Her former best friend Rachel starts to date him as the school year goes on. She goes on through her high school life knowing that her friends hate her. On the last day of school, is she faced with that terrifying night all over again? What will she do this time?

I like this book because it was a really easy read, and it was so suspenseful.

This book is better for girls. I believe that girls would be able to relate to what Melinda is going through more than a guy would ever.

Ashley, 8th grade
